checked solenoids and disconnected battery now cranks won't start

For anybody reading this thread for solutions on a 1990 Accord:
I was wrong about the component I thought was the Main Relay. What I described above is the cooling fan relay I believe. I now know the main relay or MFR is gray and dark orange and kinda hidden still even after removing the cruise control module. I'll add a link to some pics later. I found them late last night on my home computer and don't have the link here at work.

These links are probably here already somewhere but I'm trying to be helpful to the next guy.

I got it out and inspected it. It looks OK to me but I don't really know what I'm looking for. Will try to post a pic and ask what others see.

The cracks are very fine and around each component leg. To see whether there is separation will require a powerful magnifying glass.
Suggest you just re-solder all of them, adding a bit of fresh solder to each joint.
good luck

If that's Dave the car guy I did see it. It's one of the reasons I thought I could handle it, and the main reason why I removed the relay itself instead of the whole box.
Assuming for a moment the main relay is OK, could a bad ECU cause it not to engage and turn on the fuel pump, or does that happen regardless of the ECU?

I wouldn't jump to the ECU first. There could be a number of sources for no power to the fuel pump.
I would do the tests for voltage and grounds on the electrical connector for the main relay. In the Common DIY treads post on top of this forum, there is a shop manuals link where you can access a 91 shop manual. If one of the wires is missing voltage or ground, then you can troubleshoot that specific circuit.
