Default Civic shifting REALLY weird?

Hey guys, its been a while! I used to come on this forum all the time a couple years ago and havent been on since then. My old account went MIA for some reason! But now I'm back and ready for more!

So first off, a little FYI, I dont know a lot about this problem. Its my friends car and I havent driven it or looked at it in person so I know very little about this problem. She owns a Honda Civic 2001 manual.

Her problem is that she shifts into 2nd at 3000 rpm and it almost immediately needs to be shifted into 3rd. The weirdest part is she is only going 15mph. She is a brand new clutch driver and I dont know if its her driving or not, but this doesnt sound like something she is causing because of the RPM's she is shifting at. She says some guy told her to get a new clutch and for some reason that doesnt sound even remotely close to what it could be.

I suggested it could be either a bad ECU or a bad sensor. She says CEL isnt on and I told her to take it to AutoZone to get it checked anyway for any stored codes. This just stumps me. Any suggestions?

You need to test drive the vehicle to get a better idea and description of the problem. If the car drives like you haven't completely let out a normal working clutch, then suspect the clutch or maybe the slave isn't retracting. Inspect the master cylinder and fluid level along with the slave cylinder.

Yes.
'She said this' doesn't lead to useful results ...

I have had a woman say this before: I'm getting a noise by the wheel, you think I need my head gasket changed.

Bottom line, post after you have experienced the issue with the car or driven it.
