Default Clicking when pressing brake while in park

Hello,

My '96 automatic Accord when it is in park and I press the brake pedal makes a clicking noise when depressed, and then when released it "unclicks". It sounds like it is coming from the back of the engine bay, seems like it has something to do with the transmission linkage. The problem was first noticed when it made this sort of noise at the end of a quick stop while driving in D4, and later it was found to make the same sound every time the brake pedal was pressed while in park. Any ideas as to what the cause is or how to fix it if it's a serious issue?

The brake fluid has been changed within the last 5,000 miles, as well as the front brake pads. This occurrance wasn't noticed before the brake tuneup, but that doesn't mean it wasn't there.

as far as i know thats normal. The only way to get the car out of park is to press the brake pedal. (or that little emerengency button thats impossible to get the cover off) But yea its normal

I agree with Fenix. My 95 auto does the same thing.

That's the shift interlock solenoid clicking. It keeps the car in park unless the brake pedal is pressed.
