Default Clock repair gone awry

Hi folks--first tech post. This is regarding 2002 Accord EXL F23 coupe that I just picked up. Among the minor issues I'm trying to iron out is the clock. Bulb was burned out, but the real issue was that whatever the previous owner had been using to clean the dash, it had actually etched the plastic lens on the clock.

So I decided to disassemble it. Clock popped out of the dash with proper persuasion, bulb replacement was straightforward, and I carefully took the clock apart and pulled the lens out. I spent about 15 minutes with some Novus #2 plastic polish to spiff it up. If your lens is really messed up, you might need to make a pass with some #3 first. Don't worry if the LED unit comes loose from the circuit board when you disassemble--it's just held in place with tape, and reassembly in order will put everything back in its proper place.

I was not careful enough, however. At reassembly time, I came up missing a clock reset button. Word to the wise--if you ever clean your clock lens, be aware that once the clock guts come out, there's nothing holding the set buttons in. I've spent a couple of hours looking for this haystack needle, and given where I performed this repair I have concluded that it's just gone. Drop your keys in molten lava gone, man.

Does anyone, by any chance, have a dead digital clock from a 1998-2002 Accord? The little hole glares at me at night reminding me how I screwed up this simple job, and it irks me to have to replace the whole mess just after I fixed the damn thing. I'll be happy to send you postage. And when I take it back apart to reinstall, I'll take pics and post a how-to, because I've seen quite a few messed up lenses among the used cars I've looked at recently and I'll bet a few of you have the same problem.

Suggest trying car-part.com. Salvage yards are not helpful on small items and you may have to make a few road trips to find what you need. You could check w/ Honda, but you'll probably have to buy the entire clock assy.

good luck
