Default clutch problem

hey guys ive got a 94 accord lx 5-spd. today while i was driving i noticed that my clutch was very light and when i let go of the clutch it wouldnt return all the way... i looked in the clutch resiviour and it was very very low, i filled it up and for a few minutes it worked fine. then the clutch pedal started to stick a little. i drove around a bit more and i was backing into a parking space and the clutchhad no resistance and when i tried to select any gear i wouldnt go into them. i checked the resiviour again and it was fine. idk sorry for the rant but im trying to be as descriptive as i can

thanks

You likely introduced some air into the clutch hydraulics when fluid level was low or leak is allowing air into the system. There is a leak in either the master cylinder or slave cylinder that will lose the fluid again shortly. A newmaster or slave cylinder is necessary. After replacement it is necessary to carefully bleed all air from the system, similar to brake system bleeding, but much less fluid.

good luck

ill just buy both i guess theyre pretty cheap. the clutch master cylinder looks pretty easy to take apart but where does the slave cylinder go?

Make sure that you look inside of the car where the clutch master cylinder enters the cabin.

Pull the boot back on the slave cylinder to see if brake fluid leaked into there.

just look where the master cylinder rod is hooked up to the clutch pedal inside of the car. Sometimes clutch fluid leaks from the rubber seal slowly. The carpet would be stained with brake fluid too.

Not a bad idea to replace both, however the MC is a bit harder since you must release from the clutch pedal. I would check MC and slave carefully for leaks. I've had to replace both on my daughter's 97 Acura 2.2 CL which is very similar to Accord. Slave is easy to replace and leak is usually evident, particularly if you squeeze the boot and fluid is ejected.

good luck

Its also possible that you simply introduced air into the system. Just bleed the clutch to see if that fixes it.
