Default Clutch problem

Hi Guys,

My Dad has a honda accord 1.8 executive, year:2000. When you press the clutch pedal there is no resistance, it just goes loose. I believe for the last few days it was hard to get into gear but has now just given up. Any ideas or is it definately a new clutch required?

Thank you in advance.

Default RE: Clutch problem

Symptoms indicate fault in the hydraulic clutch actuator, either the master cylinder or slave cylinder. Check the rubber boot on the slave cylinder by pinching and see if fluid emerges. If yes, the slave should be replaced. Master cylinder may leak from interface w/ the vacuum booster, or may be OK.

There's an FAQ under DIY on Page 5. Link appears damaged and may not be accessible.

good luck

It may be fixed by simply bleeding the clutch fluid to remove air from the lines.
