Cool Code for ABS light

Can any one tell me what the code means for the ABS dash light flashing, once then 8 more times 1 - 8. It repeats then stops. This is when u jump the blue connector under the glove box. Thanks

The list I have says 1-8 = "high-pressure system"
I don't know any useful troubleshooting for that, but it may be that the pump can't keep the accumulator pressurized or something. What are the symptoms?

First, I forgot to state it is an 96 honda accord, 4cyl, V-TEC, auto. As for the symptoms, it has none? I was looking for SRS code and the ABS flashed and not the SRS?? The ABS could just be low on brake fluid... OR was in the pass. It use to pump up when u first started it after setting. After topping it off it stopped doing this; I will
check it again. Thanks

Look in the DIY section, I think I wrote up something a long time ago about bleeding the ABS systems. It might just be from air in the pump/accumulator system.

It might have been a stored code from awhile ago, so clear it and see whether it ever comes back. If it was winter time, you could mash the brakes to see if the ABS system works.

ABS code 1-8 has following probably causes:

> Accumulator gas leakage
> Changed relief valve set pressure
> rear outlet solenoid valve late to close
> changed pressure switch set pressure.

Of these a leaking accumulator seems most likely.

Used modulators are readily available on ebay and car-part.com for <$50. It may be cheaper to try a used modulator unless you can confirm a leaky accumulator. you can check the acccumulator relief plug. There is a diagnostic in the Honda shop manual. See Online Manuals post in DIY forum for download manual.

good luck

In my experience ABS bleeds itself unless the brake system is opened, in which case normal brake bleeding is req'd. Modulator pumps and recirculates fluid until modulator pressure is achieved. That said there is a bleeder on top of the unit.

ABS resets itself each time you turn system off/on. Codes will reset if fault is present.

good luck

Up through 1997 the ABS system has it's own bleeding procedure.

See post #1 in this thread:
https://www.hondaaccordforum.com/for...systems-31259/
At the top, I mention that beginning in 1998 the system doesn't have it's own reservoir. But the drawing shows the earlier system with it's reservoir, and the bleeding procedure is in post #1.
