cold heater
Former Honda Type r GT ownerr due to family illness had to swop so opted for 59 plate Honda accord s ,First diesel car i have had.It goes well but the one problem i have is the heater is really useless,After driving for half an hour the heater at 24 degrees still blows luke warm air ,does any one know if this is usual as the garage i bought it from insists this is normal and tells me to switch heating off till the engine shows it is warm on dashboard then turn heating up ,Seems a strange way of heating the car ,I would be gratefull for any help ,thanks hsey

You gotta help us colonials out... what's a 59-plate? (what year is that?)
Now it kinda sounds like a stuck-open thermostat. Or (less likely) lots of air in the cooling system. On the petrol engines there's a bleed-screw in the thermostat housing where you can release trapped air. Hondas don't like any air in the cooling system, and it IS possible for the radiator to have plenty of air while the overflow reservoir is full. So check the radiator itself not just the overflow.
