Default Coolant leak from coolant reservoir cap

It’s a 2008 Accord. Started the car and in few minutes coolant was squirting out by the cap. I refilled it thinking cap wasn’t on tight enough and same thing happened again. Any idea what might be the problem?

The issue could be something as simple as a bad radiator cap or as complicated as a blown head gasket or cracked head. Your best bet would be to take it to a shop for proper diagnostic such as, but not limited to, a cooling system pressure test and a cylinder leakdown test.

shipo's guesses would be mine also.

But I'd run a test on how the coolant level varies - and, as it is, it's overfull. Wait until engine is cool in the morning and 1) check radiator to see if it's full, 2) empty out / suck out / reduce the level in the coolant reservoir to near the lower mark (maybe labelled cold or min) and mark it with a piece of tape or a black marker. Then put the caps back on, start engine and record what happens or check reservoir level every few minutes of your first drive; don't open radiator cap again when it's hot.

Why not try putting a clamp on the hoses? But the people above are right, it should be checked for a bad head gasket or radiator cap.

I just had that issue on someone's car and it ended up being the cap. Pressure test confirmed it before changing.
