So i was driving and my car felt funny so i pulled over and restarted it and made it 100 feet and it died in the middle of the road. it will turn over and pop and spit and stuff but it wont start. is this the fuel pump, filter or what. fuel filter has never been changed, 205345 miles.

You need to determine if you are missing spark, fuel, or compression.

Turn the key to the II position, but do not try to start the car. When the check engine light does the bulb check and turns on for about two seconds, the fuel pump should turn on for two seconds. It makes a faint buzzing/whirling sound from the back seat, so turn off the blower, radio, etc... and listen carefully.

You may also want to check for engine codes. See the common diy thread on top of the gen tech help forum.

Do you have a timing light? Or an old spark plug?

 

im having a mechanic/friend of mine come tomorrow. yes the fuel pump runs. when i start it, i see a little bit of smoke coming from between the exhaust heat shield and alternator area that smells like burnt gasoline before the cat and i don't have a check engine light

 

Let us know what you mechanic friend tell you about his find.

Yep He just left and.... its the distributer,my dad is getting one tomorrow along with valve cover gaskets im about to go take off the cap and inspect...

 

Never mind, i just took the cap off and seen that the rotor has been shattered im about to go buy one... just saved ALOT of money
