Over the last couple of months I have noticed a creaking noise coming from the rear suspension on my 99 4 Dr LX, 124000 miles. It has gotton worse. It happens over good smooth roads, so the suspension is not working too hard. I havenarrowed itto the sway bar. anyone else experience anything similiar. Ihave taken both brackets and rubber bushing off and greased them, no help.

 

are you sure it's the sway bar and not the upper shock bushings?
Did you grease inside and outside of the sway bar bushings?
Can you re-create the noise by jacking up the car and moving the tire by hand?

another thing that it might be (not normally but...) is your hangars for your exhaust, a lot of exahust systems have rubber hangars and as it shifts a little bit those rub as well.
