Default Cylinder head bolt broken off inside.

I noticed, yesterday, when my hand brushed up against it that one of the 5 bolts that hold the valve cover in place was "loose", so I thought. I pulled it up and looked at it. It appeared that the tip was broken off inside the hole. I tried screwing it back in, but nothing. It's definitively broken.

I took the other bolts off to see if the valve cover would come up. It's really sealed tight on the gasket. Idk if it's something I should try to fix right away or not. LIke I said, even with ALL of the bolts off, the head's not moving. And other than that one that's broken, there are four more. Originally there are 3 on one side on 2 on the other. Now there are two on both sides.

How serious do you think this will be, or do you think the other 4 will hold the head on good enough?

Sorry. I screwed that whole thing up. Lol. I'm half asleep. To summarize, correct, and shorten...

The tip of one of the valve cover bolts is broke off INSIDE of the head (Or wherever is bolts to on the block) And I don't know what to do about it. Lol.

If it's not leaking oil, I wouldn't worry too much.

You can tap it out, but can't you just take the valve cover off and get on the bolt with some channel locks? Or is it broken off at the head?

Well, when I compared it to the other bolts on the back, I saw that it was just a little TINY piece that broke off inside of the head. Just enough to where I can't screw that bolt back in.

I haven't started the car in a while. Still waiting on a new fuel pump relay to come in.

It is a stud that screws into the head, no big deal.
Replace it the next time you do a valve cover gasket.
And DO NOT OVERTORQUE the nuts. 10 ftlbs is plenty tight.

Been there, did it last week, overtorqued one of those bolts last week. Tap it out and replace, no big deal.
