Hello everyone,

I bought my Accord used in 2009 with around 86000 miles on it, and in the time that I have owned it the dash lights have never worked properly. This means at night with the headlights on I can't see any gauges, and it's completely dark. The gear selection and all indicator lights still work perfectly well though. Sometimes they will come on randomly or after giving the top of the dashboard a good smack with my hand, or if it's a particularly hot day. The last point leads me to believe it is a loose wire or connection somewhere that reconnects when the wires expand in the heat but I don't know where to look to resolve the issue and I don't want to just tear apart the dash in an exploratory manner. Has anyone dealt with this before?

Additionally, my cruise control no longer works. When I press the button, the green indicator comes on next to the gauges, but nothing then happens when I set the speed and take my foot off the accelerator. This changed during the time I have owned the car as for a good while after buying it the cruise control worked fine. I've checked the fuseboxes but can't find anything amiss. Any ideas?

there is a recall on the instrument panel dimmer, NHTSA04V256000, 800-999-1009, new multiplex unit for the dash will be installed. as far as the cruise issue, could be the switch, could be the module, could be a popped off cable at the throttle body??? hard to say without seeing it.
