Default Difficulty selecting D3

Hi Folks,

2001 Accord EX V6 A/T ~61K miles.

D3 does not engage nor does indicator light up unless additional rearward pressure is applied to shifter. All other gears can be engaged without problem. I checked the shift cable adjustment and it is fine. When I had the console apart I noticed that to get the D3 light to light I had to pull the shifter rearward until there was about a 2 mm gap between the ****er mechanism and the retaining tooth. Could be the transmission range switch be the source of the problem?[/align]

I thought I'd give this a bump. Could this be caused by a worn/defective transmission range switch?

If the tranny doesnt actually engage the proper gear, then it sounds likethe shift cable adjustment.

Thanks for the reply. I checked the cable adjustment and it was spot on. All other gears can be selected and engaged. After I checked the adjustment I thought that maybe, due to a little wear, I need to slightly favor the adjustment one way or the other. Well I got D3 to light up but no other gear could be selected!
