Default Need help selecting OE clutch replacement kit

My son is in our community collage getting his BA and ASE certification in Automotive Services. This semester is clutches. So I'm going to allow him, his teacher, and his class to replace the clutch in 1999 Honda Accord EX 4 cyl which has 186k miles and the original clutch.

His teacher recommends I buy a OE clutch replacement kit and flywheel but there are so many OE clutch kits and brands... What do I buy and where do I order the parts from?

Timely question. Just last August my son bought a one owner 1986 Accord 5 spd, 105,000 miles, with full maintenance records
from an independent shop. Showed recent clutch replacement, less than 1500 miles before. Clutch felt funny, but it worked fine.

After driving it 1500 miles, that's 3000 total on clutch, the clutch would not disengage. Towed to Honda dealer:
"The (independently installed) clutch was not the one for the vehicle; clutch plate diameter looked too small for one,
and the knuckles(?-I can't recall) were bent in and mostly destroyed."

Parts, labor ($600+), tax = ~$900. So maybe get your clutch kit from Honda dealer.

Thanks for the info. I decided to call my independent repair shop I've taken all my Honda's to since 1992. It was a little weird asking them for help for parts # but not using them to do the job. Anyway, it just so happened that I was looking online at the exact clutch kit they use would be using, an Exedy HCK-1000. He also said to replace the flywheel and while that is being done he said be sure and have a Honda rear main seal done as well.
