Default Distributor Oil Leak?

I have a 93 Accord with a bad oil leak out of the bottom of the distributor. I replaced the O-ring between the engine and the distributor and realized that this was not where it is leaking from. It looks like it is coming from a little Phillips head in the bottom of the distributor case. Is this an indication of a bad inner seal?

Yes, only way oil gets into distributor interior is by the shaft seal inside the distributor.

good luck

My dist is brand new, not even 500 miles have been put on the car since it was replaced, should i look for a kit to fix the inner seal or am i gonna have to bite the bullet and get a new dist?

I moved your post for better attention. It's best practice to start a new post and not piggyback, even when subject is related.

A new distributor should not leak past the shaft seal. Most new distributors have a warranty. Suggest returing for a replacement.

Seal kits are fairly expensive (~$20) and installation can be tricky. It's easy to damage the seal on installation.

good luck

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction TexasHonda, sorry about the post. Hopefully I can find my warranty info seeing as i bought the car with this dist already in it. Ill probably end up taking it to the mechanic, that way i dont have to worry about that seal and the timing and whether or not i got all that right. Thanks again.
