Distributor Oil seal replacement 2000EX 4cyl
I ordered the O-ring and seal for my Accord. I noticed that on the 2000
Accord that it is difficult to remove the roll pin in order to pull the shaft. I see that most are beating the pin out with a punch and hammer. I am thinking about buying an Arbor press from Harbor Freight for $38.00 and use that to push out the pin.
Q1) Of the people that did replace the seal, would the press have been a better option?
Q2) Could you determine if the seal was leaking when you replaced it?
I was looking at a video from "Eric the Car Guy" and he said that if there isn't any oil inside the cap, the oil leak is at the O-ring. If I could confirm that, I wouldn't replace the seal.

Q2...
If you don't have oil INSIDE the distributor, then the shaft seal isn't leaking. Think about it; if that seal is leaking, the only place for the oil to go is inside the distributor. And likewise that oil-seal around the distributor shaft is the only place for oil to come from INSIDE the distributor.
The O-ring around the base of the distributor, would leak outside of the distributor body. The oil would leak out right there & run down the end of the cylinder head, similar to a valve-cover gasket leak.
