Sorry I was a bit obscure. As a way of answering your post #7, Honda normally considers the whole axle to come out as a unit. In the picture, part #5 & #6 snap into the transmission & #23 is out at the wheels.

Actually, on the left side, #6 snaps into the intermediate shaft (#14) not directly into the transmission. After you take the whole axle out, you either replace it (normally) or you dismantle & rebuild it.
