Default e-brake indicator light

Every year, once it starts to get colder out, my e-brake indicator light stays on when I let it warm up, put the car in gear and take off. Most of the time, once the engine warms up a bit, the light will go back off after accelerating from a dead stop. However as soon as I touch the brake pedal, the light illuminates once again. Upon take off, it's back on again.

I've read in a couple places that the problem is the fluid level sensor, part of the master cylinder cap, and that replacing the part and flushing the brake fluid is the only solution. I've done this last year right after I got the car, and now its starting up again. I'd really hate to have to go through this poop every single fall. Has anyone else had this problem more than once and do you think I might get the dealership to fix the problem for free?

Try a flush and then tell us what happens.

I'm assuming the master cylinder is full of brake fluid.

To test the float switch in the master cylinder cap, just remove it and flip it upside down.
That lets the float slide towards the cap.
The light should shut off. If not replace the cap.

Also you can unplug the switch leads connectorand insert a jumper.
