Just picked up an 87 Accord, 97000 miles, the PCM flashes on just after you start to drive. I checked the code. It flashed 12 times consecutive, no long flash then short flashed, just 12 flashes.
I pulled the fuse to ecu and cleared the code

Code 12? Was this from the dash or the ecm under the drivers seat. I ask becuase I don't see a code 12 listed for this generation..

 

If you don't have a manual download the "86-89 Accord Secan" manual from Online Manuals link in DIY forum. Secan is misspelled sedan.

Review how to read codes and read your codes again when/if codes reappear. You may have two codes adding up to 12 (5+7), if you missed a long pause. Manual shows no code 12 as pointed out.
