Default Code 14, Bad ECM?

Recently replaced my ECM to repair a no start issue and my tranny started shifting rough. Had no D4 light so took my cluster apart and swapped my 1 bulb for D4 and it light up blinking. Shorted connector and it reads a 14.
While I will do a check on the brn/wht wire between ECM and D16 terminal I am concerned that since I just replaced the ECM that is what it is. Has anyone dealt with a 14 before? Thanks in advance.

ECU code 14 = IAC idle air control valve

Not necessarily a bad IACV, but maybe cleaning & adjustment.

Or is it the D4 lamp that flashes 14??

Tranny code 14. Blinking D4 light. Rough jerky shifting. Short connector under glove box to get one long four short code. Ordered used ECU from ebay.

I'm not much of an auto-trans guy. Hope someone else chimes in.

ECU would be the last thing I'd suspect. Your year, the trans controller is a separate unit, not integrated into the ECU.

D4 code 14 is for FAULTY TCU

Are you still using your original TCU as the 94 had a separate ECU and TCU

Did you see this question?

You either have a faulty ECU or faulty TCU. Does the check engine light turn on or give any codes?

D4 light blinking, MIL not blinking. D4 , when service check connector is shorted, blinks one long four short blinks. Honda shop manual says short in FAS brn/wht wire or faulty ECM.

Replacement ECU fixed my problem. Noticed that the ECU I bought prior to this one had m/t stamped on it and my new/used one had a/t on it. Probably why the D4 light was giving a 14 code. Guy assured me the m/t one would work with my a/t.

Only way to be sure of getting correct ECU/TCU performance is to exactly match the part number on the original.

We all make mistakes. I accidentally order a MT ECU when I was looking for AT ECU recently. I managed to resell on ebay and recovered my cost.

good luck
