EGR valve and Engine Check light????
My mechanic guy told me that the Engine Check service light indicated the EGR valve on my Honda Accord 91 is not working. What will happen if I replace a new EGR valve? Will the Engine Check service light automatically reset or do I have to reset it manually, if so how???? Any suggestion will be appreciated.
When I use the SCS short connector to the Service Check connector, the Engine Check light blink 3 times. The first blink is slow follow by 2 fast blink.

RE: EGR valve and Engine Check light????
That code 12 in your year/model usually means the lift sensor on top ofthe EGR valve is bad. The best test is to be sure the EGR gets vacum when the engine is warmed up and the RPM increased to about 1500-1700 RPM, you can also watch the valve on the side of it and see the 'pin' lift.
If you need more testing info repost and we'll try to help you more.

RE: EGR valve and Engine Check light????
Sorry for posting in the wrong section. Anyway, when increase RPM to about 1500-1700, the center pin of the valve didn't lift up. The lift sensor is probably bad. So when I replace the new Valve, will the Engine Check light reset automatically or do I need to reset it manually???????
