Default eletrical problem dash lights

I have a 97 Honda accord 4 cylinder 2.2 liter non vtec. I am having an intermediate issue when I turn headlights on. every once in a while when I turn the headlight on the dash lights don’t come on and when that happens the rear running lights don’t come on so I can’t really drive at night. The head lights work and the turn signals work just the dash light and the rear running lights don’t. I don’t know if there is a really that I am over looking or something like that? I have not yet looked into this I was hoping that you guys could point me in the right direction, thanks.

i have thought that. i did play with the dimmer switch when it happened that last time. it is just weird. some days everything works like a charm, then one day they wont. and then when i get back in my car later that day, everything works again.

Usually that's the problem. Go to a salvage yard and look for one. Quick and easy swap once you get it.

Please don't take the additional questions the wrong way.....is it just the rear running lights and dash lights,,,,what about the licence plate light. I'm asking this to help narrow down the issue(s)...

To answer one question, the RED/BLU from the light switch goes to the "tail lights"...but it also goes to frt parking, license plate, side, dash and one or two more....it looks like it gets power from the RED/GRN which is fused in the under hood fuse panel by #32 15 amp.....but being an intermittent issue....sounding more like a ground issue than a power issue....but I've been wrong before.

With the added info, I'll look/think a bit more.......Give me a few, or you can download a pretty good manual-see the Common DIY Threads sticky at the top of this section....get the one for the 94.

You gave a pretty good description to begin with....and my first answer would have been the same as redbull's.......
