ok .......... a cylinder has a 70% leakage ,, where is it coming from ??? valves?? rings?? head gasket?? valves too tight and keeping valve slightly open ???

a cylindr has low compr.. what could it be?? same as above ..

by the way when i said add some oil on the earlier post i did not mean to the engine ,, i meant add some oil into the cylinder and recheck compression

So you are going to pour oil into the cylinder? Is the point of the oil rings to keep the oil from staying in the cylinder?

If a cylinder has a 70% leakage you can listen to the intake chamber, exhaust system. If the there is no air leakage audible from there you can pinpoint it to the rings or head gasket.

Pull the rad cap and check for bubbles. No bubbles, your head gasket is fine untill you pull the head off. I hope you do not reuse headgaskets.

The process of elimination would then point to bad compression ring(s)

the point of the oil is to find out if it is a valve issue or rings issue ,,

if after adding some oil compression comes up ,, it is worn rings

if compr does not come up or slightly comes up it is a valve issue
easy, fast and to the point ........

I have done it like this for 30 years .. countless times and have always diagnosed the issue of a mechanical misfire on a cylinder .........( once plug, wire, injector etc etc has been eliminated).. it is much faster than a leakage test , and requires less tools to do the job and no compressed air

do not get me wrong,, i am not saying that a leakage test is not accurate or not a good thing to do,, but you can basically get the same info with a compr test .......

if there is very low compr and you do a leakage test, you will find a high % of leakage ,,they go hand in hand

again,,, could be , burnt valve, piston rings, valves adjusted too tight , head gasket issues

And Kris is correct ,,,,,,,,,this has dragged way too long ........

Thanks guys for all the information. Did the compression test and all cylinders are fine. No substantial differences and all within spec. I could barely get the car up a hill today when working on it. I pulled the wires off one by one while running and they all reacted the same way, very rough idle when they were removed. It seems to sputter the more gas you give it, when that happens you can smell how rich the exhaust is. However, when it is idling the exhaust does not smell rich and there is no smoke at start up or when running. Ready to drive it over a cliff but I'm afraid it would not make to the edge.......

You might want to check the fuel pressure.

If you have a timing light, you might want to check the timing.
