Default Engine Rattling

Hey guys

The engine to my 1990 Honda Accord as recently developed a rattling sound in the engine, which is quite annoying and can be heard within the car whilst I'm driving. It sounds like there is a nut that has come loose and been trapped in a tin can to put it metaphorically.
I have had a look through the engine but was unable to find any loose material and dont have the equipment to really lift the car up to have a better look.

So has anybody ever had same problem or know of anything that it could be?

Cheers

How many miles are on your '90? Have you ever had your valves adjusted or half you checked the valve lash recently? These engines do have a bit of valve tap more so when cold then when at operating temp.

Check all the heat shields; exhaust manifold, catalytic converter, etc. for security. This can rattle and be very annoying.

Have timing belts been done? A failing tensioner could start rattling due to a dry bearing.

If noise is from under valve cover, better check immediately as you may have something bouncing around that may eventually jam and cause a problem.

good luck
