Engine RPMS
I bought a '93 accord a couple of weeks ago and been working on it since then and finally got it on the road.Did a test drive yesterday the rpms where at 3000 at 60 mph.Is this a normal rpm for that speed?seems to me you would see rpms like that at around 80mph.I have a auto trans/2 door coupe.
thanks Brian

First be sure there is a little slack in the throttle cable and idle speed is correct.
Next test drive with a fully warmed engine;
Rolling along under light throttle @ 25 mph, floor the gas and the trans should downshift to First gear.
Repeat the test drive @ 28 mph and floor the gas the trans should downshift to 2nd gear.
To adjust the pressure lever cable at the front of the trans case;
Loosen off the 12mm nuts till there is slack, then using a long screwdriver resting on the end of the pressure lever, adjust tension so that when the throttle linkage just barely raises the RPM the pressure lever just barely moves.
FWIW; When you are going down the highway [55-60 mph] and TC lockup happens the RPM will INCREASE about 200 then you lightly step into the gas and the trans goes out of lockup into 4th and the RPM falls a little.

I would do exactly as hondadude said above. 3000 Sounds high to me at 60mph. In my 5spd (I know you only have 4 gears in auto, but I would think overdrive would be comparable to 5th gear in mine) I don't get to 3000 RPM till about 75 or 80mph in 5th. At 60, I run about 2000 rpm in 5th.
