Default Engine stops + blinking key signal (1998 4cyl)

Hi all.

I hope someboby can help me found what's wrong with my 1998 Honda ACCORD LX, Automatic Engine - 4 Cylinder -V-Tech Engine.

A few months ago, on rare occasion, the engine would stop while I was driving on the highway at about 100km/h. It stops just for a second then it starts back by itself.

Recently, the problem star occurring more often when I was at low speed, approaching a stop or when starting right after a stop or even when I was at a complete halt. In this situation, I had to put the car in the Park position and try to start the car. Very often it took several tries before getting the car to start.

I read several post in the forum but it looks like every situation is a little bit different than mine.

This is extra information that can help ...

-when I put the key in position II, only the radio will start, I have not other light on the console or dashboard.

-If I move the key just a little further than position 2 without starting the engine all the lights on the dash are visible and I can ear a click sound below the dash.

-Recently, the gas and break line were changed.

-I own the car for 7 years and I never changed the spark plugs or gas filter.

-The timing belt was changed at 200000KM 7 years ago.

-At Idle the engine is running below 1000rpm, just the line below 1000.

Please let me know if you need more information.

Thanks for the help.

Regards.

sounds like the ignition switch. Have you taken it in for the recall?

I found this link regarding the recall
Honda Service Bulletin - Faulty Ignition Switches.

Looks like my problem.

Now lets see if I can get it fixed under that recall ... it's 10 years old!!

According to Honda the switches were changed back in 2002.

Since the symptoms are the same I thing I will go ahead and replace it.
