Hello,
Customer hit their car on a pole on the left front of the vehicle. At this point the car would not steer much, making a crack sound when turning left and a loud motor noise when turning right. I diagnosed it to be a bent control arm and a broken rack and pinion. However, the car got towed here and I was trying to drive it into the shop the steering wheel that was turning a little bit but making a lot of noise completely locked up with the wheels slightly left. This lock was while the car was driving. I was able to use some jacks to get it inside and lift it up. My question is I can replace the rack, probably replace the steering column as well, but why did the system completely lock up on me? And will replacing the column and rack fix the lock? I ran a diagnostic and the EPS and ABS system codes are attached. I am not the most familiar with electric power steering wheels so if you have any tips let me know. Maybe the lock can be released a special way? Should I replace the column because it likely broke from me forcing the steering? I can not even manually turn the wheels on the lift that is why I believe it is a lock.
Well, I know just in theory about resetting the ABS system. Turn off your car's Central computer, then replace the ABS sensor that controls your anti-lock brakes, and use the OBD code reader to track the problem that causes the anti-lock brake. That's all I know. Ok, next then. Was the car insured? How much did the client pay? This is a winning case, the insurance company will be obliged to pay the damage, there isn't even a need for help of a car accident attorney los Angeles. However, it's best to have the help of a lawyer to ensure that you get full and fair compensation and that you don't get shortchanged for a car accident that you didn't cause.
