Evaporator Core cleaning...... How??
I have a '93 Accord and I would like to clean the outside of the evaporator core where all the dirt and leaves have accumulated over the years. I know I can have the system evacuated and then remove the core so I can clean it but I wanted to know if it really has to be removed.
Is there anyway to expose the core and have access to vacuum it out possibly spray something on it to clean it? I'm trying to keep the system closed and see if cleaning the dirt out will help it cool a little better.
Can this be done??

to put it simply............NO.
You have to get the case away from the fire wall to unhook the clips holding the case together, in order to do that the system needs to be evacuated, and the lines unhooked.

Well that stinks.. I have been told that it should cost me no more than $100 to have the system evacuated and for the shop to recharge it after I replace the expansion valve and receiver drier. I will also clean the evaporator coil out when I remove it. Does $100 seem reasonable?
