Default is this exhaust problem?

Hey everyone,

I have just 42,000 miles on 09 honda accord. I have started noticing 4 or 5 months ago that my car is not picking up when I accelerate.
If I hit full throttle, it takes off slowly and then picks up.

I haven't figured out the problem but when I went for oil change this weekend. I saw that the pipe going to exhaust is pushed in somehow. it looks like some how it got hit when backing up the car.

I forgot to take the photo but I've attached a drawing to show you guys.

Is this why car is not picking up?

Suggestions? and what should I do?

Thank you for the help in advance.

If the flow out of the engine is "choked" off, yes it can cause issues....a pic of how bad the bend is would help but if it is as bad as you describe?????

Some refer to an engine as a big "pump" of sorts....it can only take in as much/as fast as it goes out.

What to do, that is going to be tricky....not sure if the dealer will replace under warranty???? Then to find that pipe in the aftermarket???? So to replace the whole pipe you might only find it at the dealer, big $$. A local exhaust shop might be able to cut out the bent section and weld in a new piece......you'll have to decide.

Everything else looks and performs well, but this issue has been in the car for a while now. And when I saw the bent, I was like this is it....this is causing it...only I would know after replacing it...

If I just get weld in a new small piece, would it be fine.? rather than replacing the whole pipe.?

Inspect the rest of the system to be sure. If no other signs. Yes, replace the section that is restricted and see....In my head, scary place, that will be the lowest cost option, double check.

An 09 accord is new enough where you should be able to find one at a junkyard where the part is still in good shape. Try looking up the part on car-part.com or call your local junkyards to see if you can find one.
