Default Foggy Odometer

Lately the odometer in my 1998 honda accord has looked foggy, like the numbers were overheating (in the electronic odometer) and some of the lines for the numbers are missing. Like, the top line of the 8 is missing, making it look like a 4. Anyone know what this is about?

You could be leaking a little coolant from the heater core. This might fog the instrument panel. Check coolant level carefully.

Do you smoke? Cigarette smoke will stain anything.

good luck

Thanks for the advice regarding the coolant leak. I'll check that out. Non-smoker for a little while now, but good to know that's an area to check also. thanks much.
