Default Front end growl months after new axle replacements

Replaced both front axles w/new units on '87 accord LX 2.0L auto.
All went well with the input of sir_nastyand deserthonda.

Now a few months later am experiencing a low growl in drivetrain, (shift to neutral changes nothing).

Suspect a wheel bearing since axle inboard caliper measurements for depth and diameterwere identical and hubs at transmission seatedadequately with factory installed circle clips. No leakage at seals and all seemed well.

Any thoughts?

Thank You.

did you overtorque the axle nuts?

I'd look into the hub bearings a little more. Is it louder when you're turning or is it pretty consistent all the way around?

Thanks for the tips.

Does not seem to get louder on turns.

Resettorque, (134 ft lbs).

Will see if it helped.

cross your fingers, i feel the damage is already done(either from overtorque or just wear)

growling is almost wheel bearings how many miles on the car? Here is an easy test, when you are going down the FWY, turn the wheel slightly left to right and if the noise changes, it's the wheel bearings

Weather broke today in Omaha.

Checked all the wheel bearings. Fronts were right at the 134 ft lb torque, (assuming the torque wrench was accurate - have always stored it spring tension un-loaded). Rears were very quiet and no excess play, (did notre-adjust rears).

Will road test next few days.

Mileage: 109,000

Thanks guys.

Wow didn't realize you are in Omaha. I'm in Bellevue. If you ever get really stuck on a problem with your car and need help, let me know.

oma93: Thanks for the offer.

The growl is unchanged and has not worsened since installation.

Will listen more closely for changes on turns.
