fuel pump location and replacement
I have a 1992 Accord Ex 4 Dr, that would not crank over the other day and we had done a fuel pressure test,by removing the fuel line at the engine and it would not spit any fuel out when cranking the engine, and have diagnosed it as a bad fuel pump....The next day and I went out and it started right up and has not had any problem starting since...my question is ...if I do need to replace the fuel pump, I cannot determine from any videos or vehicle repair manuals if the fuel tank needs to come out to replace the fuel pump and screen....and I was told that the fuel pump is behind the back seat, but we removed the seat cushion and could not find it....the video I watched showed it as being behind the backrest of the seat and under a plate that sits in the trunk, but we could not locate that either.....thank you for any help you can give me.....

You need to be sure the main relay isn't acting up.....if it is then no power is sent to the pump.
So if you verify the main relay is sending power to the pump....then and only then would I replace the pump.
There is a "panel" in the trunk that will allow you to get to the top of the pump. Remove the trunk carpet and on the left/drivers side - say about under the left rear speaker - there should be a panel "kind of glued" to the trunk floor. Pry it up and you should see the top of the pump.
The "proper way" to replace the pump is to drop the gas tank.

90 thru 97 Accords, the panel isn't large engough for the pump to come out of......hence drop the tank to get to it. Now don't get me wrong, some have "enlarged" the panel - tin snips, ect - and do remove it without dropping the tank.
