Default funny noise...valve problem?

Hello All!

I have an 02 accord ex-v6. Recently when under light load (i.e. low revs), the car will make a slight "chugging" noise, like its almost struggling. when i give it more gas the noise goes away. this particularly happens when i am going uphill. the car doesnt lose speed or rpms, just makes this noise like its having trouble breathing. Valve tapping?

Any help is much appreciated, thank you.

When is the last time the fuel filter was changed?

not sure, but i take it to the dealership for regular oil changes and all major services...its got 38k so i suspect it was changed at the 35k service. ill check into that for sure though.

Air filter? Was that done? If it was a valve "ticking" the sound would be obvious.

obvious as in loud? i can definitely hear this, mainly when going uphill. it doesnt' sound like a ticking noise per se, more like a struggling or chugging noise. i dont have the car with me now, but ill be sure to check the filter(s) when i get it back tomorrow. i gotta think they were done at the oil changes/services.

Confirm that they were or were not done. It might be easier to pull the air filter and look at it as opposed to finding paperwork. The fuel filter is a different story.

No real help yet, it may be something entirely different. I'm just wondering what I would check first.
