Ok I just got my 98 4cy auto tranny and I wondering if my gas mileage is bad. I haven't done a full tank yet but the car is fully stock all I did when I got the car was sea foam, oil change, and spark plugs. Im at a half tank now and have only driven 130 miles. I do only drive about mile and ahalf to work everyday with a few stop lights between. So should I be checking somethings or is that normal for short stop and go trips.

 

I try to change oil every 3 months for better mileage.

Only driving 1.5 miles back & forth will give you poor gas milage. That's life...

Like Jackie says, when you drive only short trips, it's hard on your oil so you should probably change oil based on the calendar instead of based on the odometer.

The fuel gauge isn't a real good way to judge gas milage. Over the course of a couple tanks of gas, record gallons & miles & do the arithmetic.
