Default Gasket/seal job now missing

Did a lower spark plug tube seal, upper and valve cover gasket job on my 94 accord. Now I have a pretty bad miss when I started it. Should have I adjusted the valves since the rocker assembly was removed? Would an out of adjustment valve cause a miss?

Yes. I suppose it's possible to get the rocker assembly back together in perfectly the same alignment, but if it were me I'd definitely do a valve adjustment. After all, you had it apart.

How did you handle the valves that were open at the time? You would've needed substantial force to compress those valve springs as you bolted the cam caps back down.

Yes, had to remove all plug wires on the plug side. I also put new NGK's in.

If you didn't back the valve adjustments off, maybe something wasn't lined up just right when you bolted it back up. You have to make sure the rocker arms and valve stems line up, especially on the valves with tension on them. Are you sure you got the plug wires hooked up right?

I lined everything up and tightened the bolts down in the pattern shown in the service manual, little by little. With the length of wires it can really only go one way since I didn't remove them from the cap. Guess I'll pull the valve cover again and adjust the valves then go from there.
