go, no go for valve lash adjustment

No, that is the clearance (0.30mm) for my Accord's exhaust valve, and the number you quoted in your original post.

0.30mm +/-0.02mm. So 0.32mm is the biggest clearance allowed, while 0.28mm is the smallest clearance allowed. 0.32mm - 0.28mm = 0.04mm allowable tolerance from nominal. Perhaps I shouldn't have used the word "play" when referring to tolerance; I can see how that would be confusing.

landlover, forget about "slight drag". Just use two feeler gauges. For the exhaust valves, if you CAN'T slide in a 0.32mm gauge, and you CAN slide in a 0.28mm gauge, then the clearance is 0.30mm +/- 0.01mm. Your valves will be adjusted well within spec.
