Default Got into a collission. Need some advice :(

Today, I got myself into a collision. When I went to an autobody shop, he said it would cost me $4,500 to fix it (includes the entire right side frame and the right front door). As I have only a third-party liability insurance, I cannot afford to get the entire thing fixed.

A friend of mine told me that I need to at least replace the front door because of all the dents. He was saying that my car could develop rust which would be an even bigger problem. I live in the Chicago area and my car is a Black Honda Accord Coupe 2000 model. Can someone tell me what should be doing at this stage?

Your friend is definitely right with the rust recommendation. $4,500 sounds like a very high quote, you could probably shop around and get a quote in the 1,500-2,000 range. This still seems like a lot on a car that is worth 3-4,000.

What you might want to do is just get some color match paint and paint over any bare metal to prevent rust. You could also try pulling/banging out the dents yourself, while it wouldn't look perfect, it might look better.

Getting a new door is an option, but it might not fit right with the messed up quarter panel.

The entire right side frame? It looks like the quarter panel and the door are dented? Where do they get this magical FRAME damage? I would shop around and see what other body shops say, 4500 sounds extreme. You could also check online for used doors, or your local junk yards for used doors of the same color? This looks like it would take time, I would do it myself with a dent puller, some Duplicolor paint and clear coat, and a Heck of a lot of time. If you did this yourself I would say at least 3-4 days, 1 day to fix the dents or replace parts, another day to prime, seal, paint, and a third day to clear. Then a week later Cut and buff Do you have a garage, tools etc? If not A body shop for like 1.5k would be about right, not 4.5k? Just seems really high, is there any more damage that we cannot see from the pics?

X4 - $4500 is a rip off. That would total the car. Take it to another body shop.

4500 is too much. If u have lot of time then try taking dents out by yourself by using slide hammer and then use body filler to even the surface out. Then paint it. but do replace the door i did that on my door but it was not as bad as yours that is why i did mine easly.

Nopes... There is no other damage. Just the right side door and the quarter panel... I'm new to the place so I don't really know any body shop guys around here... Everyone around is quoting at least 3K! So what I did was to go ahead and paint it... The paint is still intact after a month but the dents are still there

I'm still looking a suitable door or a good way of removing the dents though...
