Also, check for codes to be thorough, because some transmission codes do not cause the D4 light to flash. It is another simple and quick diagnostic test.

Test the engine coolant temperature sensor under the distributor across the two pins. Should be 2000-2500 ohms cold and 180-250 completely warmed up.
