Default Hard start cold 1992 exr 4 cyl auto J serial

I bought this baby last week with 150 thousand km on it. It was puking ABS error messages until I disconnected the battery and that problem has not come back yet. Thank God. That was a real **** off as I was driving home just after I bought this ride.

I crank it over for about 20 seconds and it fires up when cold. When hot it starts right away. The guy I bought it from said fuel is leaking back somewhere. I tried cycling the fuel pump several times before starting. It does not seem to help much. Dist cap is new. Engine runs fine but appears to be getting poor gas mileage around town.

Well, This is a nice look ACCord. Drives and shifts nicely. I think I will keep it. I bought some new antifreeze and have to fix valve cover leak. A few other leakers onto the exhaust. I hate that smell. Do you know what causes the leaks onto the exhaust header pipe?

cheers, Thanks for being there.

Accord lover,

Schnarrman

may want to look into main relay fix if the
start prob continues. Mine was hard to start
once and a while, Vapor lock gas cap, I screwed and unscrewed my
gas cap I did that for a while until I was a t the pump and it happened.
so i took out the main relay, soldered it put it back in and whaloa not a prob since! soldering kit from wallyworld is like under 6 bucks us, and solder is 2 i think. may have to add some i made sure to add a litttle on top.

If you are not sure of all of the tune up items (ign rotor, plugs, inspect wires, fuel filter, fluid changes-oil and trans, ect) I would start with those. Need to set a baseline and rule those out.

for the oil leak(s), you'll have to hunt them down. I see you are replacing the vc gasket. Are there other leaks? If so can you norrow down about where they are coming from?

Thank you for the suggestion. Where do I find the main relay?

Thanks for the help. I used silicone on the V/c. It seems to be working fine. Still smell the nasty smoke smell. I may try using the recirc button on the a/c keeping the rear windows down slightly, and see if I lose the smell.

Don't have a garage and the weather is getting cooler. So I may do more oil leak repairs in the spring. I now have a soft brake pedal going to the floor sitting at the intersection. Looks like I may need a master cylinder.

The car looks nice.

Yes, classic signs of a bad mater cyl "going to the floor sitting at the intersection"...replace that asap even though it is getting cold.....don't want to hurt yourself, someone else when it finally goes.

Any additional ideas/hints where the oil is leaking-belt side, front (between rad and engine), back (engine and firewall) or pass side?

We might be able to give some better advise/things to inspect if you can answer that? Just wanting to help.

Will do when I get a look underneath her. She has lots of pep. I like the accelaration and handling. Looks pretty good too. I must get a picture of her on line soon.
