head gasket?

head gasket?
i have been struggling with overheating and coolant loss.
i just replaced the radiator, and am still loosing coolant, although there are no visible signs.
some white smoke out tailpipe, but not alot.
no water visible in the oil.
how do i know for sure if it is the head gasket?
if it is, how big a job is it cost wise and hours.
is it posible to do on my own, with a manual and a friend who has some experience?
if so, are there any links for "how to's"?
i am not willing to give up on my car yet...

A leak down test would let you know you're losing cylinder pressure.
As far as cost, I've heard of them range from $400 to $1200 to do, and that $1200 is from a Honda dealer.
It can be a DIY job, but you would need to bring the head somewhere to have it milled flat.

Common, but not always. If the headgasket leaks in a location that puts combustion gases into the cooling system, then you see boil-over problems with your antifreeze.
A leak-down test can tell you where it's leaking into. Pressurize the combustion chamber & listen for where it goes.
