Has anyone got any experience changing out headlight unit on 2002 Accord 4-door?

Wondering if front bumper has to come off....

Is this job too big for an amateur with moderate mechanical experience..?

Old headlight units are opaque and not too clear anymore.

I haven't done it (used to own a 1998) but I'm pretty sure the bumper skin has to come off. There's a couple mounting screws below the headlamp.

Have you tried buffing the lens (from the outside) with polishing compound?

 

Very simple. 2 screws on each side of the bumper, then the tabs underneath the cover and along top of the grill. Then the headlight is self explanatory. I'd try the compound first.

 

I removed my head lights a wetsanded them to 1200 grit and then buffed them with Meguir's PlastX polish. Came out super sparkly and like new. New headlightsaregoing to run you about $200 a pair, wouldn't you rather spend $20 and aday?
