Default Heat problems

Hello, I have a 98 accord, and the heat isnt working right. Sometimes it blows out hot air sometimes it doesn't. sometimes it starts out warm but than goes cold. Sometimes it will only work when the blower is either on off 1 or 2, above that it gets cold. The cable out to the valve is connected and moving, hot fluid going into heater core and coming out. I am thinking it is something to do with the mixing? any help would be great, need the heat for my 2 year old daughter to stay warm.

Does the engine coolant temperature gauge in the cluster stay at the normal temperature? Or does it drop when you accelerate?

First I'd check for air in the cooling system. Honda's don't like to have any air in there, and the heat going hot & cold can come from that.

Here's the heater box, it's kinda centered in the dashboard, so you'll have to remove some panels to see this stuff. Maybe remove the glovebox & the panel below the glovebox.

#6 is the air-mix motor. It seems to be working 'cause it's driving the cable (#9). But that air-mix motor is also supposed to move some air-mix doors inside the heater box (not really shown in the picture). Maybe you can move the temperature control & listen whether you can hear the doors moving??
