Heli Coils for Valve Cover bolts on a 1994 Honda Accord with VTEC engine
So i have a 1994 Honda Accord with a VTEC engine. There are 5 bolts holding the valve cover on on the engine. The Engine block threads are stripped/missing thanks to the previous owner screwing in the bolts too tight. What size heli-coil kit should i get to fix the engine block threads? Also, should i still use the original bolts, or get some new ones? Remember its the engine block threads not the bolts

The Accord valve cover sealdoesn't require a lot of pressure and it may work fine w/o repairing. I have one that one tighten up, but exerts a little pressure. The spark plug tube seals dont really require a lot of pressure since they have a sliding seal primarily.
Ifrepaired, I would be tempted to have done professionally to avoid making problem worse w/ improper repair.
good luck

You choose HeliCoil size as the original thread size. It needs to match up with the VC bolts. The kit has a special strange size tap which you use to chase the holes.
They arent too hard to install, just follow directions & be careful about tapping the hole straight & true. Theres 2things Id worry about...
1 -you have to enlarge the holes - is there enough metal surrounding the holes?
2- keeping themetal chips out of the engine.
Of course, dont overtighten the bolts...
