You might have to pull back the carpet and look at the light on the ECU and TCU to count the codes.
I am not sure what year the Accord started using the check engine light to flash the codes. The procedure is on 6-148 on that 91 manual on hondahookup.com.

PA, sorry...some reason i addressed to deserthonda instead of you. i feel like an idiot. i'm looking through the 1991 service manual right now and will check under carpet tomorrow. thanks for your help.
