Default Help! Changed my oil and this came out...

Hi, I changed the oil in my two cars today, and when I dumped the old oil from my collection pan back into empty bottles, I found this piece of metal in the bottom. I don't know which car it came from, but the two I changed were a 2011 Toyota Sienna XLE 6 cyl, and a 2013 Honda Accord LE 4 cyl. Anyone have any ideas? I have been changing my own oil for 20 years and have never had something like this come out.

Ummm, not good; looks like they may be parts of an oil pump. That said, I've never disassembled the oil pump from either of your engines.

Are you sure that wasn't something that fell into the collection pan before doing the oil change?

There isn't much that can make it down to the oil pan in the engine. You may want to look at the parts for the oil pump or the pickup on each engine?

Something like that shouldn't just fall out, so there may be other pieces in the oil pan. If you have a decent magnet like my magnetic tray, try dragging it around the bottom of the pan and listen for metal moving around?
