im running internal coil

 

How did you make the change from a four-pin (external coil) distributor connector to a five-pin (internal coil) distributor connector?

 

Changed it the harness and ecu but I'll check again. I did all the engine and tranny with and my friend did the harness and ecu but I'll check. You know what color three cylinder senor is?

 

Sry damn auto spell but you know what color the cylinder position sensor wire is

 

There are two:

1. CYPP: YEL (or ORG) to dist. connector pin 4, YEL from connector to ECU pin C4
2. CYPM: BLK (or WHT) to dist. connector pin 5, BLK from connector to ECU pin C14

Sorry but there's a couple of CYP threads running right now and I forget; does your car run OK and it's just throwing a P1382?

 

yea it runs ok but it could be running better. its just i dont know if this code is holding anything back or if its just popping up for no reason

 

Yeah, I have or had the same problem, DTC 9 popping up. What I've done after scouring the FSM and internet:

• Checked the sensor resistance; slightly low at 340 Ω; spec is 350 - 700 Ω. Checked junkyard distributor and it measured 360 Ω so I left my old distributor in and got the CEL a few days later.
• Changed the brushes and diode pack in the alternator. There's a Civic TSB floating around in which Honda says dirty DC output will trigger a CYP CEL. Got a DTC 9 within a week.
• R&R'd the distributor and cleaned some minor corrosion off of the sensor.

It's been about a month now with no DTC 9. Maybe the last fix took, maybe not. The DTC seemed to pop up in colder weather and it's been in the 50s and 60s here. I guess I'll find out when the weather cools down. If it pops up again I'm going to drag out my oscilloscope and look at the sensor output. Found this page:
