Default hesitation on reversing in accord 98

hello to you all my honda accord occasionally takes time to pick up when pressing the pedal and then suddenly speed up, similar things happen on reversing. The transmission shifts very well. I am thinking one of the sensors is going bad, although no scan results yet. I want to find out if i can quickly make a journey of 68km on monday and come back on wednesday without any breakdown. When i come back from the trip i will do the repairing. Honda Accord 1998, mileage 220,00. Auto transmission 4cylinders, Lx. Hoping to hear from you all soon. Thanks

A change of ATF using Honda DW1 ATF may improve shift response.

As AT's age, they sometimes exhibit slow shifts (P>N>D & D1>D4) and require a pause (reduced throttle) to allow shift to occur, whether moving or stopped. You can drive a car for years w/ slow shift problem. It helps to let up on gas as shift point approaches.

For slow shifts when changing from P-N to D4, only solution is to wait for shift to occur before applying throttle.

good luck

Sticky throttle plate/external linkage or failing throttle cable can cause those symptoms.
