Default Honda accord distributor ?

1st post here, seems like a pretty good site...

I've got a '94 Accord LX 2.2L all stock. I need to replace the distributor, cap, & rotor. Is it just as simple as swapping them out or do I have to adjust/set the timing? Any tips/suggestions welcome. Thanks in advance!

WELCOME to our forum........

why do you need to replace the distr ?? internal problem ? noisy ?

if you are just removing it, to replace cap and rotor, assuming the timing is ok,, get a magic marker and mark it wher it is at, that way yoiu do not have to reset timing

if you do need to replace the distr than you got to reset timing ..

The check engine light and maint. req'd lights came on so I took it to the shop. They ran diagnostics on it and told me these things needed to be done along w/ a few other things for a grand total of just over 7 bills - yeah right! Also, recently it's been a little harder to start, it cranks but doesn't catch for 3-5 sec., not like firing up right away like it used to.

How do I set the timing on this thing since I have to do dist. also? Thanks again.

i woul bet that your distributor is just fine. just try the cap rotor wires and plugs first. your car will run a hellva lot better

hook up a timing lite, the marking is on ther lower timing belt cover, line up the mark on cover with the red mark on the crank pulley ,, assuming you got the timing lite set at zero.. the white mark is top dead center . the red mark is the advanced mark, also there are 2 other marks on either side of the red mark thiose are 2 degree advance or 2 degree retarded

Yeah doing the plugs and wires also. OK, what I'll do is plugs, wires, cap, & rotor and skip the dist. for now. I don't need to set timing or anything like that if I don't repl. the dist. do I? Thanks again everyone.
