honda accord surging problem
hey guys i have a 1990 Honda Accord LX with a JDM H22a motor.
i think some of the vacuum hoses are all messed up because it hasa surging problem.
after i get on it it will like surge in out and like its lagging
someone said that flywheel could be put in backwards and i dont know if that would do it either
sometimes it doesnt do it right when i start it upin the morning and drive it so i dont know whats wrong
any suggestions would be great!

Check vacuum routing against the pictorial on the hood of the car or download a manual from our DIY link "Online Manuals".
Open PCV (non-checking) andintake manifold leakcan cause this problem.
good luck

You might need to buy a manual for a Prelude with an H22A in it to get the correct vacuum diagrams. PCV valve check would be the cheapest and easiest (a new one is only about $3.) To check it, take a rag and put it around the vacuum line coming from the PCV valve to the TB. With the engine running, pinch it with a pair of pliers (on top of the rag so you don't damage the line.) You should hear a click and the engine should bog when it is pinched. If no click or engine bog, I would rplace the valve first (since it's so cheap)
An air leak can cause idle problems. Checking the vacuum hoses for cracks is a good idea. I would replace any vacuum hose that is brittle/cracked.
An air leak can come from a bad gasket, but the idle air control valves can cause engines to idle funny. Mostly the fast idle thermo valve (FITV) can cause problems in with the Accord engines and the idle air control (IAC) valve is another source of vacuum leaks. I am not sure if the prelude engines have the same components with the same problems as Accords. There are a lot of posts about the FITV and IAC, so searching this site will give you a lot of information.
Here is one that searching FITV pulled up : https://www.hondaaccordforum.com/m_62823/tm.htm
EDIT: Also check your coolant level and open the bleed valve on top of the thermostat housing until only coolant streams out. Air in the coolant system can mess up your idle. Make sure to top off the radiator when you are finished.
